Hello.

When I was evolving from embryo to human in Northwest Washington, DC during the early years of WWII, there were probably only a couple of "Goldsmiths" listed in the DC area phone directories.  These days there are many and many John Goldsmiths in the world of greater note.  So, if you have arrived here in search of an important "John Goldsmith" (or my namesake nephew - not that he isn't important) I apologise for the detour.

I'm the one who used to be on TV in DC, in various journalistic capacities, in the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s.

I have badly neglected this web site.  I apologise for that, too, as if anyone actually cares.

I am now (April 2021 - 53 years after my first day in TV) thinking about rebuilding the site with more current information though, as the opening indicates, this is probably more a matter of of an old man filling his days and some sort of mental masturbation than anything else.  After all, most information of any interest regarding me is anything but current.

In that context I mention that my other project has been to digitize old stories - 30+ years old - from CAPITAL EDITION etc. - and upload them to a Youtube Channel...    AMERICA: Who We Really Are, stories distinct from the image of America going to Hell in a handbasket on FOX and MSNBC etc.  Last time I checked there were 35 video segments on the channel.

These are little episodes from my TV journalism past about people, places and events that are timeless and location-less...could be anywhere, USA... and people/events you'd find today even though these particularly examples are a few decades old.  For those who are familiar with the long-running CBS News segments under the heading of "On The Road with.." (it was Charles Kurult back in the day) these are tales in that style.

Otherwise, if this old man can still negotiate Network Solutions (I guess so.  Here I am on 04/11/21) I will add some info and not destroy the site.  We shall see.

Thanks for your interest (if that's what brought you here.  Otherwise, sorry again for the detour).
